A Heavenly Hertfordshire Hotel – Hotel Cromwell Stevenage

Hotel Cromwell Stevenage

If you’re on the hunt for a perfect hotel stay in Hertfordshire, you can stop searching because guess what? I’ve found it! Located on Stevenage High Street, Hotel Cromwell is everything you need and more for a cosy break or weekend trip. Their modern bedrooms and stylish restaurant will leave you with smiles on your faces.

The location is great. It’s a 45 minute drive from Cambridge Centre, a 25 minute drive from Luton Airport and a 1 hour drive from the Centre of London. The hotel is located on the high street in Stevenage which gives you everything you need within walking distance, including Tesco’s, Waitrose and a huge range of restaurants, bars and cafes. Stevenage train station is 0.8 miles away which is about a 16 minute walk, you can even catch a train straight to London King’s Cross in 30 minutes.

The Hotel Room

Hotel Cromwell offers 5 room types, the single, the double, the family, the Astley suite and the Naseby suite. Each comes at slightly different prices, but all at extremely good value for money.

We stayed in the Astley Suite (photographed) and I cannot recommend it enough. It’s one of the prettiest rooms we have ever stayed in. The suite has a beautiful charm with a four-poster bed that’s so comfortable, you can sleep easy and without disturbance. There is also a cosy area with gorgeous chairs and coffee tables. The tea and coffee-making station was lovely and had a really good selection of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. In the Astley Suite there is a beautiful dressing table/desk which is perfect for doing your hair/make-up, or using your laptop/writing. The bathroom was stunning, the tiles were beautiful and it was very sophisticated.

Rump & Wade Restaurant

Joining onto Hotel Cromwell, is the Rump & Wade restaurant which is the perfect place to unwind, whether you’re hosting a get-together, enjoying a romantic dinner, or just grabbing a few drinks with some friends, Rump & Wade is the place to do it! We started off with some fresh, warm bread and olives, which was served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, perfect! For the mains, we ordered pork belly, which was served with sage and cheddar potato cake, green beans and a delicious jus. We also ordered a beef burger with blue cheese, served on a brioche bun with fries and coleslaw – it was delicious. Feeling pretty full up after all the yummy food, we decided to share a sticky toffee pudding (my all time fave), perfect for a sweet tooth! We then ended the evening with some ‘night cap’ drinks which was the perfect end to a lovely meal.

The Cromwell Breakfast

Breakfast in the morning is my favourite part of the day, and even better when you don’t have to cook it or clean the mess after! Breakfast at the Cromwell Hotel is self-service, so you can help yourself and have exactly what you’d like! Served at 7am-10am, the food is constantly being refreshed so you’re not going to be stuck with cold bacon! There is also a selection of cereals, pastries, fruits and juices for you to enjoy. If you don’t fancy a buffet, or have decided to have an extra lazy morning, you could go to the Rump & Wade restaurant for brunch which is served from 10am onwards. Perfect start to the day!
